Meredith Collins rejoined the Pelham coaching staff in 2017. She taught and coach at Riverchase Middle School from 2006-2008. She currently coaches indoor and outdoor track, specializing in distance and jumps. Her ultimate goal is to expand the running culture in Pelham.
Her coaching experience has been in a variety of sports at the middle school level, including softball, basketball, volleyball, cross country and track and field.
Coach Collins grew up in Boaz, AL, where she played basketball, volleyball, and ran track. She had a successful basketball career by holding three regional records for most points scored, most rebounds, and most free throws in a game. She also excelled in high jump by winning four state championship and setting three different state records. After high school she attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a full athletic scholarship. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she obtained her master’s degree at UAB and a PhD at the University of Alabama. In 2015, Coach Collins was inducted in to the Marshall County Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Collins is in her 14th year of teaching and coaching. She is married to Nathan Collins and has a stepdaughter, Clea. She also has two dogs, Arlee and Talullah. In her spare time she enjoys training for and running half marathons.
