In a intense game filled with emotion the Panthers were able to defeat the Huskies which will propel the Panthers into the 6A playoffs. In the first quarter Pelham went up 3-0 on a 43 yard field goal by senior kicker Greg Blue. In the second quarter a 14 yard pass from QB Xavier Lankford to WR Casey Clark extended to the lead to 10-0. QB Xavier Lankford scrambled from 14 yards out to stretch the lead to 17-0 going into halftime. In the 3rd quarter RB Jaylen Cook scored from 13 yards out to make the score 23-0. WR Edward Gipson took a Matthew Rye slant pass 62 yards to make the score 30-0 late in the 3rd quarter. Early in the 4th quarter QB Matthew Rye hit WR Kasey Clark on a 27 yard TD Pass to make the score 37-0. The Huskies finally got on the scoreboard late in the game to make the final score 37-7.

Offensively both QB’s for the Panthers provided success on that side of the ball. Xavier Lankford rushed for 15 yards and a TD while throwing for 27 yards and a TD, while Matthew Rye threw for 108 yards and two TD’s. WR Kasey Clark totaled three catches for 60 yards and a TD, while WR Edward Gipson had two catches for 87 yards and a TD while contributing 15 yards rushing. Defensively the Panther were lead by senior LB Dorian Tolbert who had 13 tackles, and S Phillip Duke and LB Ryan Jewel each contributed seven tackles. The defensive line of Sina Vatany, Brock Higdon and Braden Lee did tremendous job of being in the Husky backfield and containing the Husky Offense.

With a bye week to prepare for the playoffs the Panthers will travel to Hartselle on November 9th to begin the first round of the AHSAA 6A playoffs.
