The Pelham Panthers secured a 49-41 win against the Calera Eagles in a 6A-Region 3 Game. The Panthers scored first on a QB Will Lankford one yard run. After a Eagle’s three and out on their first series, the Panthers scored again on their second possession by a Dylan Peterson 38 yard touchdown run. The Eagles answered with a score of their own to make the score 14-7. The Panthers responded with another Dylan Peterson run from 26 yards to make it 21-7. After the Panthers recovered the ensuing kickoff, QB Will Lankford found WR Darius Copeland on a 21 yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-7. The Eagles responded with their own score to make it 28-14 late in the second quarter. But the Panthers answered and scored on a Dylan Peterson 8 yard touchdown run with two seconds left to make the score 35-14 going into halftime.

Calera opened the third quarter with two scores to make the score 35-28. The Panthers then scored on their next offensive possession on a QB Will Lankford touchdown run to make the score 42-28. On the Eagles next possession, Eagle QB Tyler Nelson under heavy pressure was intercepted by Safety Jon White and returned 47 yards for a Panther Defensive Touchdown to make the score 49-28. The Eagles added to late fourth quarter scores to make the final score 49-41.

Offensively, Dylan Peterson led the Panthers in rushing with 120 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns. RB Gabe Gamble added 39 rushing yards and QB Will Lankford added 51 yards and two touchdowns. Through the air QB Will Lankford was 7-10 throwing for 160 yards and a touchdown. Darius Copeland added a receiving touchdown and Jake Fox led the Panthers in receiving with 68 yards. Defensively, Jon White had 8 tackles and an interception for a touchdown, while Zack Rushton and Cohen Lee added sacks. Kicker Salvador Jimenez added all seven extra points.
