The Panthers improved to 6-3 on the season with a 45-28 victory. Wide receiver Brandon Sledge lead the offense with a big night both rushing and receiving. Sledge had 5 carries for 116 and two touchdowns, while also catching 3 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Matthew Rye was 3 out of 8 for 72 yards and Xavier Lankford was 6 out of 8 for 73 yards and a touchdown. Freshman Gabe Gambe provided a boost to the running attack rushing 14 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jaylen Cook also rushed 5 times for 37 yards and a touchdown. Kasey Clark had 5 catches for 68 yards in the receiving department.
Pelham’s special teams also provided a huge boost for the Panthers. Senior Kicker Greg Blue kicked a 34 yard field goal and had six touchbacks in the game. While Cody Ferguson and Ryan Jewell each blocked a punt that lead to Panthers Touchdowns.
Defensively LB Ryan Jewell recorded 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, while Senior LB Dorian Tolbert had nine tackles and a fumble recovery and Safety Phillip Duke had nine tackles.
The Panthers will host Helena (3-5, 2-3) on Oct. 26 in an important region contest.
