In a back and forth game the Pelham Panthers fell to the Homewood Patriots 20-18. The Panthers scored first on a QB Will Lankford 43 yard touchdown pass to WR Chase Christian. The Patriots responded with a field goal to make the score 7-3 which was the score going into halftime. Homewood’s first offensive drive resulted in a touchdown which gave the Patriots a 10-7 lead. The Panthers responded with a field goal of their own to tie the score at 10-10. The Patriots took over on the Pelham 33 yard line and was able to drive the short field and score a touchdown to take a 17-10 lead. The Panthers responded with a drive of their own and scored on a 25 yard touchdown pass from QB Will Lankford to WR Chase Christian. The Panthers went for two and converted when Dylan Peterson ran it to give the Panthers a 18-17 lead. The Patriots took over with 1:20 left and was able to drive the ball down into Panthers territory. The Patriots made a 42 yard field goal as time expired to hand the Panthers a disappointing regular season finale loss. The Panthers will host the Montgomery Lee Generals in the first round of the state playoff tournament on Friday November 6th at 7:00 PM on the Hill in Pelham.
